Emma Shaw Crane

Emma Shaw Crane is a recipient of a 2017 SSRC International Dissertation Research Fellowship and a 2016 SSRC Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship. She is a PhD candidate in American Studies in the Department of Social & Cultural Analysis at New York University. Before returning to graduate school, Crane was a Fulbright Scholar to the Critical Medical Anthropology Working Group at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá. She is interested in how the aftermath of counterinsurgent war shapes possibilities for life on postconflict urban peripheries. Her dissertation investigates programs of postconflict social repair on urban peripheries in Bogotá and Miami, with a focus on the reintegration of former combatants.
